Sea of Turquoise

This week's pick for "interior color highlight" is Turquoise- It is just one of those colors that always looks good- no matter what other colors you pair with it.

This is such a fabulous room! The combination of fuschia and black add drama-yet the fireplace and turquoise walls make this room extra cozy.

These amazing chairs add punch to this otherwise neutral palette.

Beautiful, just beautiful! Love turq and white!

I loooove Jade's rock and roll style. Here she is at an event with her two daughters.

Clearly, her style was influenced by her famous parents. How fabulous does Bianca look here!

Quote of the Day

This quote seems so telling-especially during this difficult time in our family. My grandfather passed away today-and although he had a wonderful life-I am going to miss him so so much. I have never met someone so kind and giving as him, and he always had a smile from ear to ear. One thing I can count on is that he had a "lot of life in his years."

 Until we meet again, Nonno.

Emerald Walls

Today I am lusting over emerald walls....

Image via: The Lennoxx

It may be a bit bold to paint a whole room in emerald-so I would suggest starting with just one  "statement wall" or as you can see below-just the trim.

I LOVE this bedroom designed by Antonio Ballatore winner of HGTV's Design Star.  It is so fabulous that he painted the ceiling too! Paired with all cream decor-this room is luscious and chic.

Experiment with wallpaper-this one is just absolutely GORGE!

Would any of you ever paint your walls emerald?

Style Icon-Lauren Davis Santo Domingo

This weeks pick for style icon is Socialite and Contributing Editor for American Vogue-Lauren Davis Santo Domingo.

She is the face of the young social elite. I love her style-which I would define as clean and polished, but not afraid to take risks.

Love the bold citrine color!

Quote of the Day

Design Tip

When it comes to window treatments and hanging curtains, people tend to hang them directly above the window. Well guess what, that's wrong wrong wrong!

Please DON'T!

A secret to adding height to any window-and polish to any room is to hang drapes high and wide. Here are some examples of this design tip, and don't be afraid to step out of the box and try something different, even when designing your home.

Back in November I posted about FEED, a non-profit organization that provides food to children in need.  If you have not already purchased a product (or if you want to buy another one, wink wink) you can join their FEED Haiti campaign by buying a FEED 1 or FEED 2 bag.

The donations from the sale of each bag from January until June will go to Haiti during this critical time.

Style Icon-Ivanka Trump

One of my favorite stylista's is Ivanka Trump. She is always looks so classic and elegant. Not to mention she is also drop dead gorge!

I never think to wear white shoes, but this look is beautiful for spring and summer. Love the butter yellow!

Her style is very simple and lady-like. She never over does it with too many accessories and rarely follows trends. I love this sophisticated mod look!

Last Day

Today is my final day for my detox diet. I have to say that it has been a success! Unlike last year-I don't have any urge to binge on a cheeseburger and fries. I am feeling very refreshed, healthy, and a LOT less bloated.

I haven't had the chance to weigh myself, but I would imagine I lost some weight. All my clothes fit better.  For all of you currently doing the detox diet-feel free to e-mail me or comment anytime if you have any questions.

If you are interested, New York City cardiologist, Dr. Alejandro Junger is the brains behind this diet. He also has a new book out called Clean.

Clean is an M.D.’s program that provides all the tools necessary to support and reactivate our detoxification system to its fullest capabilities, and can be easily incorporated into a busy schedule. The effect is transformative: nagging health problems will suddenly disappear, extra weight will drop away, and for the first time in our lives we will experience what it truly means to feel healthy (

White Marble

Now that granite counter tops are all the rage-I have decided to shift my interest into white marble. Here is some "kitchen inspiration" for today:

(image via House Beautiful)
Ok so not only am I obsessed with the white marble counter top in this space-but also the use of the wood beams on the ceiling and exposed brick make this kitchen feel super warm and cozy!

(image via: decor pad)

I LOVE the use of the chocolate wood floors and island combined with the white cabinets and marble in this featured kitchen. Its always nice to see a kitchen with clean lines and no clutter.

(image via

OMG! This is the kitchen of my dreams! I love love love the chandelier and pale blue drapes- I am also obsessing over the mirrored kitchen cabinets! Beautiful, just beautiful...

(image via

This is another one of my favorite kitchens using white marble. The chandelier is drop dead gorgeous-and the distressed egg shell blue center island is to die for! I especially love the use of the multi-colored metal chairs-and check out the over sized basin sink!

Day Seven-Reporting In

I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend! For all of you doing the detox diet with me-and survived the weekend-I congratulate you!

Unfortunately- I can not say the same about myself. Friday-I did really well, but Saturday was a complete washout. It just didn't seem fitting to show up at a football party with a blender, frozen fruit, and rice milk in hand-Imagine! So I took a little break from the detox this weekend. I will however- add two days on to this week, and instead of ending tomorrow-I will end Thursday-just in time for the weekend!

For all of my readers starting the detox this week-good luck-and have fun with it! I promise you will feel refreshed (and lighter) by the end of the week!

  • Alkaline balance
  • Mental acuity
  • Kidney cleansing
  • Natural hang-over cure

Day Four

A lot of you have been sending me e-mails regarding the detox diet and I am so happy to hear from you! For those of you doing the detox with me or if you are just curious-today is our fourth day. I have to say that today has been my "toughest" day. Usually, fridays mean out to dinner with my husband followed by a bottle of wine at home watching 20 20 (our real "going out" days are long gone). This weekend, all I have to look forward to is shakes and raw crudite. On the up side, it is working. I feel a lot less bloated and my jeans fit better already. I just have to keep motivating myself to continue, and it's also great to hear from you!

Style Icon-Diane Kruger

Today I thought I would take a break from all the "detox" and "diet" talk- and focus on personal style. Fashion has always been a HUGE part of my life-Currently the always polished Diane Kruger is on my radar:

I love the greek goddess look here in Versace

In Christian Dior

In a silver Alberta Ferretti ruffled dress at the Costume Institute Gala at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.

Her style is so effortless -I love the two prints she mixed here

at Berlin Fashion Week Summer '09

This crochet top is very interesting-it has the potential to look very "grandma" but paired with the cargo shorts and heels it is very chic!

Day One and Resolutions

I survived day one of the detox diet! Actually-considering the massive amounts of food and wine I consumed over the holidays-I think I adjusted very well today. Ok, I lied, I am a little hungry...

Like most of America, my #1 new years resolution this year (and every year since I was 16) is to eat healthier and lose 15 pounds. Typically I do really well for the first month, and then blow it the next 11...

I feel like 2010 is going to be different...I don't know-I just have a really good feeling about it! I feel like I have a brand new start on life-new decade, new career, new blog, new car, new gym membership...I think this year is going to be my best yet, and maybe, just maybe, I will lose 15 pounds!

I would love to hear what all your new years resolutions are...
