Oscar Challenge: The Day After

You may or may have not read my Oscar Challenge last month-but I was pretty excited when Mila Kunis was wearing the Ellie Saab dress that I had originally picked for Nicole Kidman. Didn't she look stunning?
What was your favorite Oscar look?

Hi, it's Debby from Inspired Design.  I am so thrilled to be here visiting today and filling in for Cara.
Cara is one of my favorite girls and since she loves fashion and interiors, I thought I'd combine the two.
So, which actress is your favorite?  Reese, Kirsten, Cameron, Kate?  I love them all!

Guest Post: Gallery No. Eight

Hi everyone! It's Brittany from Gallery No. Eight here today sharing some gorgeous living room inspiration :) I've always loved these sorts of posts, and I thought it would be really fun to do one for all of you!

Starting off, I adore this artwork by Ann Carrington, Pearly Queen of Bow. It's made entirely of pearly off-white buttons! I knew I wanted to include this :)

After searching around on some of my favourite home stores, I found this stunning rug and coffee table from Anthropologie. I thought the creaminess of the table worked well with the art and decided to take my colour palette from the colours in the rug.

So, vignette number one! I love chaise lounges, and this one is especially lovely! Paired with one of my favourite series from IKEA, and some beautiful pillows from Dwell.

1. HUE by Kelly Wearstler, 2. Apartment Therapy 40 Homes, 3. Jonathan Adler Giant Belly Lamp, 4. Dwell Distressed Silver Pillow, 5. Dwell Batavia Azure Pillow, 6. Urban Outfitters Edie Velvet Chaise, 7. IKEA Hemnes  Nightstand

Vignette number 2 includes a super squishy leather chair from Anthropologie, as well as this adorable teacup chandelier. And I love the bright pop of orange that the Jonathan Adler tables give!

1. Jonathan Adler Lacquer Cubes, 2. Anthropologie Tea Time Chandelier,  3. Anthropologie Emeline Chair, 4. TOM FORD, 5. Glamour: Making it Modern, 6. Dwell Vintage Blossum Azure Pillow

Finally, vignette number 3 is one that I see just off of the main room as a perfect reading nook :) Comfy chair, great lamp, and a table big enough for your book and a cup of tea or coffee!

1. Urban Outfitters Madeline Chair, 2. Domino: The Book of Decorating, 3. Jonathan Adler on Happy Chic Accessorizing, 4. Dwell Labyrinth Citrine Pillow, 5. IKEA Ringum Rug, 6. IKEA Hemnes Nightstand, 7. IKEA Barometer Lamp

I hope you enjoyed my room inspiration! Cara's blog is one of my favourites and I was so excited when she asked if I would like to guest post!

Thanks so much for having me Cara!!
Hope you all have a lovely day!

The Lure of California Style

Melissa Warner's LA pied-a-terre via House Beautiful
When you hear "California Style", there are a lot of different ideas that come to mind.  For some, it means a Spanish Mediterranean home with old-word details. For others, it conjures a modern artist's residence in Venice, and for still another, a glam Hollywood hideaway.
What I love about California, though, is it can be all of those things.  From a perfect surfer's shack with a bird's eye view of the break, to a bungalow tucked in a tree-lined town, California style at its essence, is a love and appreciation of beauty and often the nature which surrounds it.
With their mix of wanderlust and detail, here are just a few examples which may leave you wanting to pack your bags.
First stop is a peek inside the Beverly Hills guest house of Kelly Wearstler for her venture into Bravura Modern.

Next, is a trip down South to San Diego for the simple pleasures of the bungalow.

For a more mediterranean feel, Santa Barbara intoxicates with its warm, ocean breezes.
If you're longing for a modern experience, close to nature, there is a dreamy spot in LA I know.

And, of course, we have to go to the beach.
With so much talent and its beautiful surroundings, you don't have to look far to be inspired by California Style, whatever your flavor.  There truly is something for everyone.
I want to thank Cara again for making her beautiful blog such a treat to visit everyday and, of course, for the fun opportunity to write a guest post.  And for all my new friends at Lilac and Grey, feel free to stop by Adella Avenue anytime.  I'd love to have you!
-xoxo Noe

Guest Post: Sprinkles in Spring

Hi everyone! This is Kara from Sprinkles in Springs guest blogging for the other Cara you know and love.

It's halfway through NY Fashion Week and here are a few of my favorite looks that have come down the runway so far:

After an outstanding Spring 2011 show a few months ago, Jill Stuart amazed again— this time with deeper hues and color blocking (and really cute graphic print dresses with owls and foxes that you have to see to believe). One of my favorite looks that I chose to illustrate was this orange dress (the color for 2011) with a faux peter pan-like collar.

Another great look for fall is from DKNY. Capes are also going to be popular again this year and Donna Karan did a great thing with this cape paired with a striped dress and bare legs. Perfect for those in warmer climates that still need some winter outerwear.

This look from Daryl K might be the most appealing to me because it's something I could definitely see myself wearing. An oversize white shirtdress with leather leggings, black boots and another one of fall's big trends— a furry vest.

Here's to a great second half of NY Fashion Week... I'll be watching! And a special thank you to Cara for letting me do this guest post. For more fashion week coverage and illustrations, head over to Sprinkles in Springs after checking out Lilac and Grey. (PS- I'm also hosting a giveaway for a signed copy of The Kind Diet by Alicia Silverstone!)

Designer Spotlight: MAWI

Available here

Aren't these designs stunning?! Mawi costume jewelry draws a fine line between edgy and contemporary with these bold pieces. I am a HUGE fan of statement jewelry and would wear any of these pieces on any given day with a white tee and jeans.

Do you wear statement jewelry?

PS. Today I am Guest Posting at Veranda Interiors!! Melissa is an interior designer and her and her husband own a custom home building company. You have to check out her blog for photos of her portfolio- the homes are a-maz-ing!! She is also a sweetheart!
