Weekend in Photos

We had a wonderful weekend here at the Jersey Shore! The weather was beautiful, the sun finally came out, and we had a chance to enjoy some of our favorite summer activities.

Here is some of the craft beers we tried. I love trying new beers, especially from locals. Do you have any suggestions of brews you have recently tried and loved?

We biked to the Tiki Bar in LBI, The Sea Shell for happy hour..

Wearing my new cover-up tunic...

Sunday we went to another local Tiki Bar in Forked River, NJ called The Captains Inn. We love it because you can dock your boat, enjoy great food, and listen to live music. I had the blackened scallops which were  SO good!

How was your weekend?

Guest Post: Status Accessories

Today I am happy to have Yelena Starikova of guest posting here on Lilac and Grey...

I'm often dreaming of strolling the streets with my own Hermes Birkin Bag in gorgeous Beige color. Doesn't mean I will own it in a near future but hey~the girl can dream.

Why Status Accessories such a great investments?  Because it is timeless and made from very high quality material that will last forever.
Status accessories are Budget breakers most of the time. But, Im a true believer that  if you can not afford something, learn what makes that piece so special: quality, details or proportions and try to find something similar in your budget frame.

OK, Here is the list of Rolls Roy's of accessories:

It is a handmade handbag from highest quality leather. It has a great proportions , metallic hardware are plated with gold  and colors just stunning.

Chanel 2.55

Did you know that  in order to ensure that each bag can withstand every single climate they are  tested for 72 hours at 60 degrees Celsius and 95% humidity? Amazing! This bag can easily go from day to night.
I believe if you really want something, you can save up a little by little to get what you want~

Hermes H Belt

It is simple, elegant and beautifully made. Wear  it over jeans with cashmere sweater
or pair it with Little Black Dress.

Christian Louboutin

Tim Gunn once said: “When you get to Shoes heaven you will get a pair of
Christian Louboutin”. ~ how refreshing....
Nobody does it better.  Louboutin Shoes have the best proportions and quality.

Cartier watch

Sexy and timeless look

I love the way ceiling beams add dimension, depth, and drama to a space...

IN LOVE with this space! It's modern, rustic, and traditional...

The best part about exposed ceiling beams is that they are not really noticed, however they somehow pull the space together just as the perfect piece of artwork would for a wall.

How was your weekend?

Weekend Recipe: Salted Carmel Macarons

I saw this recipe on Emily's blog Cupcakes and Cashmere, and have wanted to make it ever since. I thought I would share it with all of you...

1 1/4 cups confectioner's sugar
1 cup almond flour
3 egg whites at room temperature
3 Tb. granulated sugar
inch of cream of tartar
caramel coloring

Blend the confectioner's sugar and the almond flour in a food processor. Begin to whip the egg whites in a stand mixer until they start to froth. Add a pinch of cream of tartar, and as they foam up more gradually add the granulated sugar. Beat until stiff.
Add the almond mixture to the egg white mixture and fold until the mixture begins to flow "like magma". I would say this will take about 40 - 60 turns of the spatula.
Fill pastry bag fitted with 1/4 " tip and make 1 inch mounds on cookie sheets lined with either parchment or a silpat. Let sit for at least 20 minutes. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 12 minutes.

For the caramel:

3 tablespoons corn syrup
1 1/2 cups caster sugar
2/3 cup double or heavy cream
3/4 - 1 teaspoon rock salt or coarse sea salt
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, diced

Pour the glucose syrup into a large saucepan and bring it to a boil.
Slowly add the sugar, stir until dissolved and continue to cook until the sugar has started to caramelize and turn golden brown. You shouldn't touch the sugar while it is going through this process.
Meanwhile, in a separate saucepan, bring the cream and salt to a boil.
Remove the caramel from the heat and gently add the cream.
Stir over low heat until smooth.
Remove from the heat and add the diced butter.
Stir until smooth. Let it set until it is spreadable, then use it on your macarons.
