Guest Post: Ali & Ariana from The Elegant Abode

Hello there, Lilac & Grey readers!  This is Ali & Ariana stopping over from Elegant Abode to talk a bit about accessorizing your home with all things GOLD.  As interior designers, we’ve watched as everything from side tables to mirrors to hardware has shifted from silver to gold and we’ve loved every moment of it.  While we still appreciate and use silver in many designs, some rooms call for a little more punch and glam… and that’s where the gold comes in.

Instead of being subdued and washed out, this grey console gets a punch of color from the gorgeous gold starburst mirror and floral hardware.

The dining chairs below could have been paired with a simple cream or beige linen, but instead are kicked up a notch with this shiny gold leather giving the whole dining room a sleek, sophisticated appeal.

We are known for our love of neutrals, whites and pastels and this bedroom is right up our alley.  But when you go for such a simple color scheme, you have to be careful you don’t end up with an end result of “blah”.  This is where texture and warmth are needed.  Just by including this beautiful gold night stand, the room is given just enough glitz to take it from boring to absolutely lovely.

Interiors need jewelry just as much as we do.  This room is the perfect example.  Besides the few pieces of furniture, there’s not much going on in here.  But dangle a little gold from the ceiling with a glitzy chandelier and add a couple more layers of jewelry with the side table and lamps and you’ve got yourself one sexy little boudoir!

We hope you enjoyed our gilded guest post and are inspired to incorporate a little gold into your favorite spaces!  And thank you to Cara for including us on her beautiful blog!
