These are photos I took of my in-laws street in Bayville, NJ. They live on the water, across from wetlands. They were evacuated and have been staying with us since Monday morning. Boats from the Marina across the wetlands were washed up into their neighbor's homes; and into the streets by the storm surge. The inside of their home is ok, but they had about 4 inched of mud in their garage and damage to the exterior of their home. They were lucky.
We are so grateful that we made it through the storm safe with no harm, but so many of our friends and neighbors have extensive damage, and many have lost everything! Millions are still without power, water, and food. If you would like to donate to the relief efforts in New York and New Jersey, please visit the Red Cross site. Here is the link to donate for the Hurricane Sandy Disaster Relief.
Also, for just $20 you can purchase this Jetty T-shirt, where all the proceeds will go to victims of the storm as well as the first responders who risked their lives to save others. You can purchase the t-shirt HERE!
Thank you again for all of your thoughts and prayers! If you have any non-perishable items that you would like to donate to local shelters; please e-mail me, and I will direct you where to send them!

Hello,
ReplyDeleteI was searching for damage photos when I found your blog. My grandparents used to live at 269 Butler Blvd. I understand that the whole end of the street is pretty much destroyed. I spent many summers there as a child; sad. I hope your power comes on soon and the rebuild goes smoothly. Take care. Mike
