Recovering from Sandy: We Need Your Help!

Hello Friends! As man of my long-time readers know- we live at the Jersey Shore, about 15 minutes from Long Beach Island- one of the hardest hit barrier islands destroyed by hurricane Sandy. I am grateful to report that we are safe, and our house is ok, with just some minor exterior damage. I want to thank those of you that have in-boxed me personal messages, checking in, and making sure we were OK.

These are photos I took of my in-laws street in Bayville, NJ. They live on the water, across from wetlands. They were evacuated and have been staying with us since Monday morning. Boats from the Marina across the wetlands were washed up into their neighbor's homes; and into the streets by the storm surge.  The inside of their home is ok, but they had about 4 inched of mud in their garage and damage to the exterior of their home. They were lucky.

We are so grateful that we made it through the storm safe with no harm, but so many of our friends and neighbors have extensive damage, and many have lost everything!
