Quote of The Day

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” – Mark Twain

Lady M Confections

Last week I posted a recipe for a layered crepe cake, which sparked an interest in many people. For all of my readers who went gaga for that recipe...check this out...

Lady M Mille Crepes,  signature crepe cakes, known word wide for it's paper thin layers of homemade crepes and light pastry cream. The top is gently caramelized, and when you bite into this sweet confection, it just melts in your mouth. Weekend Plans

Last weekend we took a ride to Brooklyn to visit our friends. They wanted to bring us to Roberta's (known for their amazing pizza) but when we got there, it was a 2 1/2 hour wait! We were starved and couldn't wait, so we went to Miranda's instead. Late that night, on our way home, I was checking facebook, and another one of Kevin's friends posted that the "2 1/2 hour wait at Roberta's was totally worth it!" What are the chances!! Ha! Unfortunately, I have not been able to shake my pizza craving allll week, and our local shop is just not going to cut it. We may be taking a trip back to Brooklyn again this weekend just for the chance to sink my teeth into hot steamy cheesy yumminess!

How far have you travelled for a food craving?

Blush Interiors

Last week I posted about blush dresses and I just can't stop at just a dress. I want to incorporate pretty blush tones and petals pinks in our home. I am thinking maybe painting the walls in our living room, a pretty pillow,  or maybe even a china cabinet (like the one pictured below)!

It would be pretty hard to convince my husband to get a pink couch! I might have more luck with an accent chair...

This space is exactly my style and in an "inspiration" folder for our master bedroom...

This space is perfection. Bottom line.

How do you feel about adding a little blush to your home?

Guest Post: Splendid Objects

Spring is all about refreshing your closet & spaces. Whether it's your home, your office, or your wardrobe - there is something about the cheerful optimisim that spring brings. I am very inspired by blush tones and all shades of green; from mint to emerald. The color green immediately makes me think of fresh cut grass. And blush, of course makes me think of all the beautiful flowers blooming on the streets and in the parks. These colors have a strong presence on the runways for Spring/Summer 2012 so why not incorporate some of these beautiful tones in your home as well? Spring is in the air!

Thank you Lauren! I am all about blush and mint this season! Check out Lauren's blog HERE

The Little Blush Dress

I am totally into the color blush and I am pinning it the color of the season. Why not store those Little Black Dresses and buy a few blush ones!

Zani Gugelmann looks stunning in this blush dress at the New Yorkers For Children's Spring Gala.

Painting the Dining Room

Originally, we were planning on painting our dining room a dark navy blue, but when we tested some colors on the wall we questioned if it was going to be too dark? The painter also said it would "shrink the room" which of course scared Kevin away...

Our other choice is to paint the walls a very pale ballerina slipper pink. We have a hand carved dark wood dining room table and buffet (a family heirloom) and a white, shabby chic, china cabinet.

I would LOVE to add this metallic zebra print cowhide rug, but I am afraid it might be too small for the space?

Blue and white Ikat print is another option...

Or something really pretty and romantic?

Any way, we are very indecisive and need your help.  Here is a photo of our dining room as a blank slate. What do you think? Paint colors? Rugs? Any other suggestions?

Tuesday Table-Scape

This table-scape designed by Maria of the Ritzy Bee and Janie of The Bride's Cafe for the Spring 2009 Edition of Bride and Bloom Magazine. I love the color palette of soft blues, whites and silver. The flower arrangements of baby's breath, white hydrangeas, and anemones are so beautiful! Simple and elegant.

Quote of the Day

"I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.

It's Friday...

It's not just any Friday, it's Good Friday. Lilac and Grey is a religion and political neutral blog- however I do believe that the Easter holiday has a message for everyone. It is a time to celebrate a new season, family, re-birth and growth. But the overpowering theme is sacrifice. Whether it being that you donate the *free* turkey or ham that you get at the supermarket for spending a certain amount of money to a deserving family that can not afford a hot meal, or putting yourself second, to make the day of someone that needs your help and support. To sacrifice something that means a lot to you, but would mean the world to someone else is the ultimate gift.

Have you made any sacrifices lately?
