A Thanksgiving Baby!

Hello friends! I am popping in to announce that we were tremendously blessed this Thanksgiving with a little angel. Our baby girl Chloe Renee Gardner was born on November 22, 2012, 7 lbs 8 oz. Mommy and baby are doing very well and we are all settling in at home. This has been an incredible experience, and we are enjoying every second of being new parents to a beautiful baby girl. You can say... we are in heaven

See you soon!

Quote of the Day

Thanksgiving Day is the day we offer thanks
To those who built the foundation of our land
And to those who died keeping our country free
A day we thank our God for his guiding hand.

A day we sit down at our table with those we love
Feeling good knowing no danger lurks at our door
Thanksgiving Day is celebrated each and every year
By all Americans whether we're rich or poor.

A day we give thanks we can choose our way of life
In a sinful world where much freedom is gone
Thanksgiving Day is a special day in our country
We are not perfect, but together we stand strong.

This is what Thanksgiving Day means to me.

Shop Love

Baby Onesi Collection

These last few months of my pregnancy have consisted of lots and lots of online shopping and discovering new little shops and blogs. One shop that caught my eye is Atsuyo Et Akiko. The shop is based in Brooklyn, where they combine fashion and art. One of my biggest pet peeves about baby clothing is too many graphics, or sayings like "Mommy's Little Princess." My friends and family would be shocked that I am posting about baby onesies that have writing on it, but for some reason these are different. Check out the rest of the shop- they have really cute stuff- very hipster chic

Tis the Season for Sparkly things…

The time of year is almost upon us; there’s definitely a winter chill in the air and the advent calendars have hit the shops en masse. Whether you’re a holiday season lover and begin your shopping in summer, or you prefer to shy away from the Christmas hysteria, with less than 8 weeks to go there’s no doubt that it’ll be creeping up in no time!

Here are a few gift ideas and suggestions to make those subtle hints to your loved one that little bit easier.

SHIMMER AND SPARKLE:
Jewellery is undoubtedly up there as a staple on the gift front. If you’re due some serious spoiling this year, how about suggesting one of these H.Samuel Eternity Rings. This white gold band with alternating diamonds and sapphires is a particular eye catcher.

Charm bracelets make a great alternative if you’d prefer something a little more low key. There are some unique charms available at Links of London from zodiac representations to gorgeous miniature horseshoes.

EAT DRINK AND BE MERRY:
The festive season is a great excuse to indulge in some culinary delights. Food themed gift baskets can also make ideal presents for a range of family members and friends. Many businesses offer tailored food hampers based on country and occasion. For example Scottish baskets contain treats such as smoked salmon and homemade shortbread. Wine baskets are another option quite fitting for the holidays.

PICTURE PERFECT:
Personalised calendars and photo collages are a lovely way to record your memorable moments from the year. With the explosion of online outlets offering an array of image personalised gifts, it’s never been easier to find the perfect personal gift. Products include coasters, T-shirts, and even jigsaws all featuring your favourite snaps.

PAMPERED AND PREENED:
Particularly good for those post Christmas blues, a spa day is a must; whether you opt for a half hour facial and a quick session in the sauna, or go all out with a full day of manicures, pedicures and massages. There are some brilliant packages available and many venues offer specialised “couples spa days” which can make for a lovely wind down following the chaos of the Christmas holidays.

Friday Cuteness

What better way to close out the week than with some really cute animal photos...

On the Weekend Agenda:
We had our baby shower a couple of weeks ago; however Sandy and its aftermath has pretty much brought the nesting to a halt. We put together and organized many of the gifts, but we still have lots to do! This weekend we are going to focus on painting the nursery, and finish decorating it. I am moving much much slower these days as my belly continues to surprise me as it continues to grow! I have also never experienced the level of exhaustion that I have been feeling these past few weeks...it's tough carrying a little baby around in your belly for 9 months! 20 more days!

What is on your weekend agenda?

Tuesday Tablescape

My new favorite color combo is emerald and blush pink. LOVING the emerald glass dinner plates and glasses! You can find vintage sets of these on Etsy.com. Those monogrammed napkins are pretty fab as well!

Quote of the Day

“You can spend minutes, hours, days, weeks, or even

months over-analyzing a situation; trying to put the

pieces together, justifying what could've, would've

happened... or you can just leave the pieces on the floor

and move on.”

Recovering from Sandy: We Need Your Help!

Hello Friends! As man of my long-time readers know- we live at the Jersey Shore, about 15 minutes from Long Beach Island- one of the hardest hit barrier islands destroyed by hurricane Sandy. I am grateful to report that we are safe, and our house is ok, with just some minor exterior damage. I want to thank those of you that have in-boxed me personal messages, checking in, and making sure we were OK.

These are photos I took of my in-laws street in Bayville, NJ. They live on the water, across from wetlands. They were evacuated and have been staying with us since Monday morning. Boats from the Marina across the wetlands were washed up into their neighbor's homes; and into the streets by the storm surge.  The inside of their home is ok, but they had about 4 inched of mud in their garage and damage to the exterior of their home. They were lucky.

We are so grateful that we made it through the storm safe with no harm, but so many of our friends and neighbors have extensive damage, and many have lost everything! Millions are still without power, water, and food. If you would like to donate to the relief efforts in New York and New Jersey, please visit the Red Cross site. Here is the link to donate for the Hurricane Sandy Disaster Relief.

Also, for just $20 you can purchase this Jetty T-shirt, where all the proceeds will go to victims of the storm as well as the first responders who risked their lives to save others. You can purchase the t-shirt HERE!

Thank you again for all of your thoughts and prayers! If you have any non-perishable items that you would like to donate to local shelters; please e-mail me, and I will direct you where to send them!

Sunglasses Girl

Some girls are  "shoe girls," some are "handbag girls..." I'm a "sunglasses girl." I just can't get enough! I love trying them on because they ALWAYS fit! No matter what brand, Ray Ban, PersolGucci etc. I never have to wiggle, squat, or suck my tummy in when trying them on. Sunglasses never go out of style. I have a pair of Chanel sunglasses that I have had for almost 10 years, and they still look just as relevant today as they did then. Another plus, they are season-less, you can wear them all year round.

Roberto Cavali Magnolia Retail Price $280, Smartbuy Price $197.95

When I find a great deal on sunglasses I just can't resist- so when I discovered the site Smartbuyglasses.com, which offers a variety of the top designer brands at discount prices, I was ecstatic!

LOVING these classic Gucci Aviators! Retail Price $282, Smartbuy Price $206

Remember when I almost bought these Prada Baroque Sunglasses (see post here)? Now I can get them for 29% off the retail value! Retail Price $322, Smartbuy Price $229.95!

What kind of girl are you?
